And this morning, weapons manufacturer BAE Systems reported that its profits had almost doubled, boosted by the combination of a weak pound and continued spending on war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Full-year pre-tax profits were £2.37bn, up 91% from £1.24bn in 2007.
