I changed my provider to EBICO, a non-profit-making supplier in December. Yet to receive a bill from them but gas and electricity were much much cheaper, about 8p a unit per electric and 4p per gas, if I remember correctly.

I only have the heating on downstairs as I seldom go upstairs anyway, and heat rises, so the heat will filter up. When I go to bed I put a 3Kw electric fan heater on for about 30 seconds in the bedroom, and that is sufficient. If you have too much heat in a bedroom you will not sleep well.

That is the basic difference between men and women. Women do indeed love their heat. If you had a close relationship, body-heat should be enough !!

I'd have to be not working away from home then!

I have a mate who just got a £250k golden handshake from Statoil and a £500k golden hello from Gazprom...

Not hard to see why prices are so high.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Due to the old loft conversion (flat roof) we would have to pull the bedroom and bathroom ceilings down to insulate them, not an option my wife would go for.

No criticism, I had something similar myself once. Burning tenners was just the easier option.

They are only cheaper for an average user. Over about 4000 Kw per quater and they are more expensive.

We have a wood burning stove in the lounge, perhaps I should get the wife to turn off the heating and just burn tenners!

She is too busy/lazy to light the thing during the day and with a toddler in the house it can't really be used until he's gone to bed, and by then I can't be bothered to light it.

I thought about zoning the house so at least the heating is off in the rooms she doesn't use all day. Maybe after this bill I'll get round to doing it before next autumn. (and if I'm benched it will definitely get done)
