...why should my taxes go towards you when you obviously don't really need benefits at the moment ...
    QUOTE]

Its not his taxes your just recuporating your own, but why wait until all your savings are down? ok so you dont need benefit at the moment but dont draw on your savings put your savings aside for an emergency (car, flood,... accident) and claim what your entitled to for now.

If your company is dormant it is effectively dead and you are not an active director, and if you have a P45, you are redundant, and thus you are entitled to claim.

Oh dear. If everybody gets back all the money they have paid in taxes, how does that work then? What is left to help those in need?

I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt, not that fancy store-bought dirt... I can't compete with that stuff.

The point is that if you have a stack of savings you don't need benefits. What would you lot be saying if Sir Alan Sugar, or Richard Branson decided to sack themselves and claim benefits???

This is ridiculous. You lot are behaving like employees of your last clientCo.

One minute you are complaining about IR35, "I'm a proper company honest", then when things get bad you want the benefits of an employee.

Do you think the director of a "proper" company should sign on between sales? NO
They should be doing all they can to maximise the profits of the company.

Yes they do. If you're employed then you can't get the dole. If you're not employed while your employer is between clients, then either you or your company is a con. Finding the next client is part of the job, it's one of the things that you are employed for.

And someone who has paid tax and NI for 35 years is entitled to something: the protection of the welfare state. Same as everybody else.

Think the OP should have phrased the question "How can I.....?" instead of "Should I.......?"

The OP's company is not dormant, nor has he been issued a P45. Taking these steps with the sole purpose of claiming benefits should be seen for what it is; cheating the system.
