Grow a pair and invite him outside

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

      Thanks in advance.
Its called Office politics - Sounds like a personality clash - your mistake and fault - learn from it and keep your gob shut on the next gig.
Also, the backstabbing you've done in the office has probably got back to him. He probably thinks you're a right kn*b to be manipulated this way and that you need to be kept in check.

You really are an idiot if you think what you've talked about in private, hasn't been used for someone else's gain i.e. got back to your boss. "you know what he's saying mate?"

In the end, your boss has probably decided that the only way to manage you - is to belittle and sideline you because you're spouting bile in the office against him.

The others are looking on in glee because they think that you two going at it, will benefit them as you both fight to the death. (well yours really and the boss suffers damage!)

If you don't like it, put up with it, smile and SHUT UP. It will blow over in a few weeks - Alternatively, leave.

Pointless to think you can do anything about it which will reflect good on you.

      Kn*bhead - I wouldn't want to employ you either

You're a contractor. Grow up and look for another contract. You're not going to be there for ever anyway. Once you start being involved in office politics it's time to move on.

        Good Luck !!!

Er, a bit harsh. And ignorant. And more.

It's OK to say from a distance that if you ever appear as a character in an office politics drama, it must be your fault. Sometimes it was predetermined and wasn't your fault, e.g. the boss wants his friend in, and whoever gets taken on instead will be in tulip.

            err Ivor,

when did he say he been backstabbing or talking behind his managers back? in fact what he actually said was that his manager is talking behind his back..

Then you go on to insult him which really is uncalled for, what has he said or done to upset you?

Maybe if you improve your reading and understanding skills it might help.

Finally, you sound a bit stressed out and wound up, in this situation I find a quick "ham shank" relieves the stress (I'm assuming that your single here with no chance of pulling given your personality)

            regards

                Now that IS bullying

There is no need to be so aggressive with him, the chap came in for constructive advice, not more abuse.

You could always press the nuclear button.

Go to HR and lodge or threaten to lodge a complaint for bullying against the company. Tell them you are prepared to go to an employment tribunal if it is not 'resolved'.

Just because you are a contractor you are entitled to protection the same protection (from discrimination, bullying etc) as permies. Now I don't necessarily agree with this, let alone implications for IR35, but that is the law. I've also seen this happen for real.
