So who deregulated the City so much that banks like RBS could get liabilities as much as UKs GDP?

She did crack down on unions who took the piss, however in process she (in my view) destroyed UKs industry where as Germany and France managed to keep it.

Maggie de-regulated the stock exchange. But the city has always been market led.

Personally I would have let Rogue banks go to the wall. Let the market decide.

Gordo Brown set up the banks regulatory framework. He loved light touch.

Brown is more guilty at City mismanagement, however Thatcher in my view helped finish off UK industry in favour of financial bulltulip of the City.

It was good that she cracked down on units hard but destroying industry in process was wrong.

Of Course the UK still has more manufacturing than France. But lets not bring facts into the argument eh?

You aren't half a clueless twat when it comes to economics. We've been over this so many times. How could or can British low-tech widget manufacturers possibly compete with thirld world sweatshops making identical widgets at a small fraction of the price? (especially when the British workers were constantly walking out on strike, reducing their productivity even more).

Would *you* generally/always buy British-made goods at two or three times the price of foreign imports of comparable quality? If the answer is no then you've proved my point.

P.S. For the miners, substitute the word "coal" for "widgets", and "Polish" for "thirld world".
