Sorry to break it to you, but there are now only two choices.

1. Vastly increase the amount of taxes to cover the huge debt, ad carry on as we are.
2. Acknowledge the huge debt, admit we now can't afford the welfare state we might like because labour have given the money to the bank, and cut our cloth appropriately.

To sit there effectively giving it "nah nah na nah nah, the tories want to cut public spending" after labour have just effectively given the banks a blank cheque, is, with respect, a little childish.
