Can't speak from experience about girls, since I olny have the one son. But from talking to other parents girls tend to be a little less messy, but higher strung emotionally. Expect more screaming and foot stamping and less sullen grunting.

Replace your wireless handset phone with a wired one, otherwise you will spend your life rummaging through teenage detritus looking for it.

Buy extra glasses, crockery and cutlery to replace the ones that vanish into their room, never to be seen again.

Buy shares in Febreeze. Possibly less of an issue with girls but definately a prerequisite with boys. Never mind the canary, when even the dog won't go in their room you know it's time to fumigate.

If you are still stuck for work consider taking up mini-cabbing. You will be spending most of your time in your car anyway.

I would worry about either kid staying out(I have twins boy/girl and a baby boy).

Girls will go and sulk too, but they'll also have a sarky reply both before and after too. The second will be better honed and probably worth writing down.
