No learny learny, no money money. they probably failed as youfs, because they didnt have the forsight to see the consequences. Now they have LIVED it, they may see the upsides of basic education, one would hope!Comment

Yep OK, but just how long do you keep trying? How many second chances before you give up and realise they’re useless and always will be useless?Originally posted by Solidec View PostCONSEQUENCES.

Well honestly, there has to be a tipping point. It would be interesting to see which demographic of society is growing at what specific rate.
Are the impoverished uneducated welfare dependant of society on the up number wise? They seem to pop out way more children than your average middle class family and their 2.4 kids!
How many years before we have such a burgeoning underclass that civil unrest will takeover as the taxpaying members of society become the MINORITY!
Because that is where it seems to be going.Comment

How many second chances have shown people not to be useless, just in need of a second chance?Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostYep OK, but just how long do you keep trying? How many second chances before you give up and realise they’re useless and always will be useless?
Just offhand:
The Beatles were rejected by almost every studio in London. PArlophone gave them a chance, just in case they could make something of it.
Bach was rejected as court musician for the Margrave of Brandenburg, despite submitting the Brandenburg concertos as his job application. The count of Cothen gave him a second chance.
Von Richtofen (the "Red Baron") failed his pilot's test three times.
Maybe Carl and Lauren have learned, and would not now throw away a chance. Who here can honestly say that they have always done the sensible thing when they were young?Comment

That's because they're all bunched together in big council estates. You need to get rid of the council estates and persuade each middle class neighbourhood to 'adopt a chav' in one rented house. Perhaps the kindly middle classes could be given a tax advantage for such a scheme. That way, the useless chavs are less likely to breed with members of the same social group and you slow down the reproduction of halfwits.Originally posted by Solidec View PostWell honestly, there has to be a tipping point. It works here. The Dutch stopped building big social housing estates when they realised that it's not a good idea to let Wayne and Waynetta live too close to each other. tehre are still some problems in the cities where the big estates were built, but otherwise things are generally OK and perhaps even improving, despite what the locals sometimes think. And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument?
