Zips on flameproof suit, steps into bunker
I think that the victims should be compensated (this bit is true).
I suggest that we have a whip-round of the grand muslim council, and if not enough is raised to compensate someone for the MURDER OF ONE OF THEIR LOVED ONES then we should pull down a couple of mosques and sell the land for an abattoir or a pig-farm, something of that ilk.Why not?Comment

Now they are going to compensate the victims of the London bombs?!?!?!
Sorry WTF is that about?
Does anybody else think this is absolute madness?!?!
Why do they need compensation? The tax payer has had to fork out for all the anti terror costs and now have to "compensate" the victims?
This place is insane.
Through no fault of their own they've been injured/maimed/killed. Who else is going to compensate the injured or their dependants?
FFS, get a grip man!Comment

Alexei, can I just say at this point

Tomorrow, while on your way to work, imagine that you are sat on a train and somebody comes on and decides that he is going to die and take as many of his fellow passengers with him. You know nothing of his plans and are sat there merrily reading your morning paper. Then everything changes. You wake in hospital minus limbs. You reaise that there isn't much work out there for a programmer with no hands. Would you still feel the same about getting a little bit of compensation.Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.
I preferred version 1!Comment

Sunny San you ******* tosser. Why don't you **** off out of out country. That is the problem with our nation's state of mind. We don't look after our own. If you work, contribute, pay taxes, when something like this becomes you you should be given a helping hand.

Missing the point
All,
Sympathy with the plight of those affected by the bombs is understandable but not the point really.
Accidents happen all the time, should all victims of civil disorder be compensated?
If I get stabbed walking to work, either by a drunk begger or an illegal immigrant who shouldnt be in the country, am I entitled to compensation because I can also claim that both cases could be a direct result of government policy.
If my wife gets raped by a drug addicted intruder into our home, am we entitled to compensation?
Should I worry about Critical Illness, or Accident cover, because I can always claim compensation from the government if in the course of my interaction with the society they created, I get injured.
So the government has a fund for victims of terror? What are they going to do. Compensate us with our money when we get killed and and maimed owing to their foreign policy and internal governence?
Whatever the terrorists ideologies are, for the most part part they are British Nationals and they have detonated explosive devices in a public place. If so execute them for acts of treason, or jail them for life for murder etc. They have commited crimes and need to be punished.
The victims of crime are usually innocent. It does not mean they need to be compensated.
I just think it sets a bad precedent. Do we start expecting compensation for any unfortunate eventuality in out interaction with society? There are no evil thoughts except one: the refusal to thinkComment
