Once oil and gas gets to the point of supplies running out (close) we are all in for it. The goverment is just not serious enough about re-newable energy, we will be nowhere near prepared.

No worries there. threaded will use his time machine to steal it from the past in five-gallon cans.

energy war and climate change should be much higher up the list of "worries" than "the downturn"

All boils down to the same thing though - idiot politicians who are either dumb or corrupt, and usually both.

            Politicians are the main problem.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - Epicurus

The supplies don’t need to run out to cause major problems, as has been demonstrated by mr Putin this week.

The most pressing reason for renewable energy is the fact that most of the world’s fossil fuels are in the hands of psychopaths, religious fanatics and ex KGB criminals.

What renewable energy is this then? A bunch of windmills in Scotland are hardly going to keep the lights on for long.

It's an important topic. Wind power may be all that's left once the oil is gone.

You can place a very big bunch of wind turbines in the sea, with wave power installations tied to the bottom of them.

Renewables won’t replace fossil fuels for quite some time, but they can reduce dependence and buy some time.

Not any more. All that trendy green stuff is out of the window now. We're back to old fashioned basic politics.
