Interesting point, but then I thought of runners. Should the Olympics hold heats over 100m, semi-finals over 1500m and the final a marathon? Bolt would never have won a medal, and nor would Gabrisalasi, Coe or Ovett. We'd be watching mediocre jacks of all trades, masters of none.Originally posted by deano View PostI think that the Cricket World Cup should be 20/20 for the first group stage, then ODI format for the knockout phase until the final, which should be a 5 day test.
That would reveal the true world champions, who have mastered all the formats of the game, and don't just focus on one bit.
Very few cricketers have mastered all forms of the game. I'd rather see specialists at each than mediocrity, where half the players consistently fail and reduce the quality on show.Comment

Hmmm - Flower has no real experience as a coach, and is very close to Moores. Great batsman, and has to be admired for his stance over Zimbabwe, though.Originally posted by DiscoStu View PostTelegraph now reporting that KP and Peter Moores have both quit, Strauss to be named captain and Andy Flower as caretaker coach.

Strauss should have kept the captaincy for the last Ashes series, instead of giving it to the idiot Flintoff.
Put us back years, that did.Comment
