The 26-year-old's teenage plans to be a footballer were scuppered by a back injury so he studied drama and creative writing at university.
His TV appearances have included the BBC's versions of The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North, both of which featured Billie Piper.The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment
