WTF do the tories do now?

The Tories have to do nothing except wait.
Things are going to get so bad that most people will hate Labour by the end of 2010. Three million unemployed, 150 Billion annual deficit, a burgeoning and unaffordable public sector where cuts should already have been made(but no way because too many votes involved), unaffordable public pensions, and a growing need to tax because of incompetent economic management. It's all set up for a return to a government that promises to balance its budget.Comment

You don't get those adverts outside of the south because the rest of the country doesn't have such disgusting water. But why then an 'unplatable' Northern accent on the ads? It's because it's seen as more trustworthy than a southern one.
Hague was unelectable because he's a twat.
You will never get into the job of running the country by election unless you have an accent that is taught to you by paid education.
Also you have quoted a word that I did not use, do you understand the concept of using quotes?Comment

You talked about palatable accents, implying his was the opposite. IMHO his accent had noting to do with his success. True that most leaders have been public school educated, but that is not because the public desired it, more that top public schools come with added old school tie networking advantage that hands itself to power and influence. Wilson/Thatcher were the first to break that mould, neither were from the south. At the moment a toff accent is seen as a disadvantage, see George Osbourne recently trying to tone his down.Last edited by Bagpuss; 26 December 2008, 22:35.The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment
