    How amazing is this?

Honda appear to have kicked the internal combustion engine into touch. 130bhp, 100mph, 280 mile range - and it runs on liquid hydrogen.

Bye-bye petrol? Some good news for a change??

Maybe you should write to Top Gear and tell them about it? They could do a feature on it a week ago.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Up to 280 range, still not as good as an average Diesel of 600-700 miles.

How much energy does it take to make a litre of hydrogen?

I guess the average filling station is filling up cars at 100 litres a minute at 60kw per litre would equal to 3,000,000 kw per hour of electricity to keep one petrol or (hydrogen) station going.

Are we going to run them with coal fired power stations?

I was told about it on the phone just now - pardon me for not watching the goggle box.

I don't know what I was thinking, sorry. Let's get back to posting doom and gloom stories - I guess people will be happier.

Depends how it's created. It's less energy intensive to create hydrogen from fossil fuels than it is by electrolysis. For sure though, the hydrogen will give up a lot less energy than it took to make. Something like 1/3 of the energy content is used to liquefy it too.

People keep thinking of hydrogen as a fuel source. James May sort of conceded this fact when he said "the one problem with hydrogen is that it first needs to be created"! Of course the likes of Clarkson think that Honda have just saved the world. Hydrogen either needs to be kept at cryogenic temperatures (go hiss) or in strong heavy containers (go boom) and both these storage processes use up energy. Still there is that small problem of how to get the friggin hydrogen in the first place to be addressed first.

No just realistic. Zero emissions at point of use does not mean zero emission overall.
