So the government cuased the credit crunch by forcing the banks to lend to those bloody foreigners

    Absolute BNP tosh!
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Clearly they should have been consulting the economic expertise of cybertory, who apparently knew exactly what was going to happen 18 months ago.

They could have done a lot worse. I predicted over a year ago further nationalisations of HBOS, RBS, B&B and Lloyds, when everybody was saying it was just that Northern Rock were incompetent. The Rock ran out of it's 'raw materials' due to the money markets drying up and a bank run caused by HMG
, and a blind man should have been able to see that liquidity was the issue and not the company.
In time, I have been proven absolutely right, that HMG and the BofE(especially Mervyn King with his 'moral hazard' preaching) got it wrong and now we are paying the price.

NR was nationalised in February - so it is amazing that you knew about it being nationalised over a year ago.

The pound will rise against the euro.

              When?

If you think of currency as share price of a country then UK is going down and will be taken over by stronger more agile, bigger company - eurozone.

My prediction : Sterling to rise 10-15 per cent by the end of March.

I predicted that if NRK were nationalised, then others would follow, because there was no real reason for it to be nationalised as it was purely a liquidity issue. As it was a prediction, it was BEFORE the Rock was nationalised and thus well BEFORE February. !!

The Rock has since repaid most of it loan, and has started lending again, even though it is supposed to be reducing its loan book by 50%. Yet more proof of a bad HMG decision to nationalise and theft from shareholders. I await the judicial review and public protests from January 12th with interest!!!

                      No idea.

That's my point. All we know is that prices for different things go up and down, and no-one can really predict them.
