Same here- as a contractor I often get random flat shares new to clients sites so will check each new person!!!
For what ? Membership of a legal party ?

Also, how do you know they are still a member ?

Would you ask to see their subscription card ?

What does it matter what their personal political choice is, as long as it's a legal one ?
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

It shows how dynamic the web has become. Private data posted to the Internet and within (hours?) published, much discussed, abuse reports, admin actions, reported by the mainstream media, and references removed. And tomorrow it will be on the news.

Because we may at some point be watching TV and have heated debates on some issue, and he may well come out with

        a) stupid uninformed ignorance
        b) truly racist comments which cross the line

Both of which id like to avoid, see my point??

Plus Id like to not be on egg shells if a black artist is played on the radio

It is my opinion that the mods are taking an action they 'think' is correct just because its less hassle thinking this one small thread on a reltively small forum will make any difference in the Internet ocean.
            Finished ranting have we ?

The mods are rightly concerned that as a responsible site, they do not need any hassle by allowing the links to be found which might direct others to one of the data sources.

Nick Griffin confirmed to me this evening that the Police are actively involved in this investigation, and as such, the Police are contacting ISPS to obtain evidence for the investigation. I don't know any more than that.

The mods are not just protecting themselves, or CUK, but also doing you a favour YHB, for advertising the links in the first place.

Nick is on the BBC site. an ex employee took it and leaked it. ISP's will be contacted to prove the link to this individual and thats it.

Anyone who found it and is hosting it is not in any serious trouble as too many to count- will be on the net forever more.

              From the guardian:

the party discovered the information had been leaked when its members started receiving unsolicited mail. "We found that members were being sent propaganda.

Sounds like a splinter group was forming

Yes and maybe only such names should have been released - you can't release all names because some might be bad ones, how many, 10%, 20% or maybe 0.1% of the list?

                  Hang on a minute.

You suggest that a reasonable defence for having the list and vetting potential tenants is because you might be watching a TV program with them one day, have an argument, and he might say something which offends you ?

In that case, you'd better write a proper questionnaire for your poor tenants asking them their sexual preferences, religion, which charities they donate to and whether they like or loathe Marmite, and who is their favourite actor and musical band, because BNP membership is obviously just the tip of the iceberg, and there are some really dangerous people out there who like all sorts of other things. Especially marzipan.

Do you live in Barking by any chance ?

A BNP spokesman said that Nick Griffin, the party's leader, has made a complaint to Dyfed Powys Police about the publication.

A spokesman for Dyfed Powys Police said it had no record of a complaint from Mr Griffin.

                    Who to trust-police or BNP

Any bias in their work should be caught using on-the-job methods, not some list majority of people in which have nothing to do.

It's like how would you like if someone leaked top 10% earned in the UK list with all their addresses and salaries? It's not illegal to earn lots of money, yet people might not want this to be published for whatever reason, I am sure some of those earners are criminals, does not mean for the sake of them lots of others should be involved.

This one is likely to go to court especially if someone on the list gets hurt - member of BNP or not.
