Assuming she self-harmed in some way, don't let yourself be blackmailed into getting back with her. (I'm sure you knew that anyway).
best wishes.
True, I had a gf like that once; she asked me to marry her on a weekend in Paris (she was French) and said she wanted to make lots of little French ‘mich le testers’ with me. I refused, she turned to the absinthe, sent me begging letters which became increasingly threatening and violent, and then (luckily) she fell in love with an 18 stone lesbian.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014
And also, (without wanting to sound harsh) don't hang around trying to make sure she is okay - it will only make things harder for her in the long term. Her friends might well think you're heartless but she'll get over it a lot quicker without you trying to be her friend.

Bad enough, but attempted suicide must be much worse.
I don't believe she was actually trying to go through with it or she would have made sure, i believe it was a cry for help and effectively emotional blackmail to try and convince me not to end the relationship, all it's effectively done though is made me more convinced she's not the one for me..

I heard a similar story when I was at uni from friends of an ex-girlfriend. Several chaps after me she threatened to top herself if her current squeeze left her. I don't think she ever went through with it, but was forever known as Mental Amy amongst my friends.
It sound like you are well out of it. Good luck whatever you decide.
