Like freeview but with more channels you won't watch.

So what gems will I be missing if I cancel and go to FreeSat / FreeView ?

Good luck trying to cancel, I called them when I was moving house and got the "cancellation department" who are presumably bonused on account retention. This arsey B'stard tried to talk me out of it for about 20 minutes before I threatened to put the phone down on him.
However if you need a new dish or are moving and want to install at your new place, just threaten to cancel. They'll offer you free installation and loads of stuff to keep you. Just pretend you;re about to bin it

Do Sky dishes point to the same satellite being used by Freesat? If so to upgrade to Freesat, is it just a case of buying a Freesat card and continuing with the same dish?

What resolution is Freesat HD transmitted? e.g. 1080p.

I've had Film4 for a year now and the films are starting to repeat themselves, but its not at the stage where it's unbearable. I normally record them, so can flit past the ads (or just junk the complete film if not interested in it).

                      You'll need a Freesat receiver.

I think that's down to the individual channel, but I'd guess most will be either 720p or 1080i.
