I ditched Sky years ago and good riddance to all the money grabbing. A video recorder is an essential accessory with Sky, so that you could watch something uninterrupted by advirts later. Terrestrial TV + Freeview gives me more channels than I can watch now.

I don't buy DVD's, I can't see the point of owning a film as I won't watch them again and again. So, I watch movies. I also watch a few of the series they put out on Sky 1 etc. My kids love the selection of childrens channels and on freeview there aren't as many by a long shot. I have the music channels on now and again when I'm doing something else and want some background music.

As for sport, I don't watch chavball, I watch the rugby so that is worth paying the extra for. The chavball fans I guess get the best deal by far. I also watch MotoGP but that is going to BBC for them to butcher the coverage next season.

So, all in all I don't mind paying for Sky. I have freesat in the conservatory and I hardly watch it. I'll probably go multiroom at some point in the future.
        Older and ...well, just older!!

              A video recorder? How quaint.

I still call it that, despite it being a HDD/DVD recorder.

Discovery channel was the only thing I missed about losing Sky (well, virgin), but most of the stuff they show comes on CH4 or 5US eventually anyway.

I used to watch the footy now and again, but if I'm that bothered about a match I can go down the pub. I might sign up again when I'm retired so I can watch golf from my lazy-boy, but thats a good 20-30 years off yet...
