Viktor Suvorov’s writings have been proved absolute fiction because of the opening of the archives in the US, UK and Russia. Communications between Churchill and Stalin together with war plans of the Soviet Union shows the Soviet Unions political and territorial intentions.

During the cold war intelligence gathering on both sides averted the war from going hot because each side knew what the other side’s intention was despite the rhetoric of governments in public.

Viktor Suvorov either is too stupid to read the historical documents or is a cleaver fraudster who knows he can capitalise on the US extreme right wingers.

Suvorov's view that a Soviet invasion of Germany was imminent in 1941 is not shared by the majority of historians.

Viktor Suvorov is from the Ukraine; Western Ukraine was on the side of Hitler and so has an axe to grind against the USSR. Stalin gets re-branded from Georgian to a Russian in the same way Austrias have made a great job in re-branding Hitler from an Austrian to a German.

This was due to the Ukrainians who viewed the Nazis as liberators from Stalinism - however they soon found themselves out of the frying pan and into the Fire - the Fires of Dacchu.

To the Nazis they were Untermenschen - therefore they had to be destroyed.

The Ukranians has suffered under Stalin - but under Hitler they faced genocidal extermination.

As for the Soviets - their Millitary doctirne was always one of Attack to liberate states from Capitalism - so no doubt they may have had a plan - in theory- to attack Germany in 1941 but their dismal perfromance in Finland showed they were not ready to carry out any such plan - for they had already purged all of their officer class.

Bear in mind that all millitary has plans for scenarios - for example the USA probably has a plan as to how it would strike Western Europe and even the UK if the requirement ever arose.

France has nuclear warheads targetted on the USA.

They Soviets had no real effective defensive strategy and the Nazis soon had the Soviet millitary in complete disarray at the onset of the Barbossa.

There inital success was also compounded by Nazis commandos whom prior to the invasion had managed to completely blind the Soviets by sabotaging their communcation network with outstanding success.

Fortunately - for everybody - the Nazis were ultimately defeated by the Soviet determination to defeat the scrouge of Nazism - as Stalin said - 'if they want a war of extermination- they will have one'.

There is an excellent book about this by the Russian author V. Grossman (oddly enough he does have a German surname) who as a news journalist witnessed musch of this era of history 'Life and Fate' being perhaps, in my opnion , one of the defining novels of the last century.

If there was anything confusing in the USSR it was the policy for Jews. Stalin came from a Jewish family but trained (and failed) as Orthodox Christian Priest. He then married and Jewish lady. While he was in power he created an autonomous Jewish Province that today is part of the CIS. The USSR did prevent Jews from going to Israel but this was their anti Zionist policy not to be confused with anti Semitism.

The idea that the Soviets were in a war for National survival, weren't sure how to respond and thought, 'hang on, as it's the Nazi scourge, lets get determined' is laughable.

After getting invaded, the Soviets would have been determined even if it had been Bambi armed with a pea shooter, the ideology, at that point, was unimportant.
