Why not get rid of the unfathomable number of vague ‘managers’ going around acting important, while not having a damn clue what they’re talking about? Why not take a knife to all the bureaucratic methodologies being bandied about? Why not cut the number of stupid reports people have to write each week? Why not cut down on the number of directors? Why not banish corporate slogan designers and poster pasters to hell?

They've got posters around here saying 'Transformation has just become a verb'. I stuck a yellow post-it on one saying 'No it bleeding well hasn't'. They could save money by not buying that kind of tulip, and sacking the individual who paid for it.

No; chuck out the craftspeople, the tradesmen, the professionals and the workers who help you make money.

Standard gobbledygook from some twit who got an MBA instead of an education. I had a faint hope that if one good thing would come from this economic disaster it would be the end of inflated ego management terry-osspots with no brains; I hoped in vain.

        Vain hope indeed.

Pointless middle and upper management will tend to survive in this country at the expense of people who can actually do real things, it's been that way for a very long time.

What do you expect from a species that is descended from those that arrived on the ‘B’ ark?
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

It's not just Britain; it's infected the whole of Europe in the last 10 years as previously well run continental companies fell for the so-called 'Anglo-Saxon' economic model of quick profits in the short term, mega bonusses for management and hire-and-fire policies.

I've been waiting for the chance to rant about those posters, but I think I'll just go for a cup of tea instead.

True, but I only really understand it from a UK perspective.

                    WHS. And Gartmore too. Tosspots.
Just heard the contractor budget is front & centre for the chop here.
But look at it the "weasle way":
                    1. Hire contractors - implement projects. Manager is a can-do guy.
                    2. Fire contractors - reduce budget expenditure. Manager is a cost-saving guy.
                    It's a win/win !
                    Bored.

Anyone - how was it who said "if you think hiring a professional is expensive - try hiring an amateur"?
It is usually attributed to Red Adair, I can't find anything to back that up though.
