I seem to remember reading a statistic that 75% of clients found there freelancers cheaper I just don't have the source (it may of even been Gartner)

Further if you really want to reduce costs you can not go too far wrong by having a core permenant staff supported by contractors who can be used as and when required.

Why not get rid of the unfathomable number of vague ‘managers’ going around acting important, while not having a damn clue what they’re talking about? Why not take a knife to all the bureaucratic methodologies being bandied about? Why not cut the number of stupid reports people have to write each week? Why not cut down on the number of directors? Why not banish corporate slogan designers and poster pasters to hell?

They've got posters around here saying 'Transformation has just become a verb'. I stuck a yellow post-it on one saying 'No it bleeding well hasn't'. They could save money by not buying that kind of tulip, and sacking the individual who paid for it.

Just heard the contractor budget is front & centre for the chop here.
But look at it the "weasle way":
1. Hire contractors - implement projects. Manager is a can-do guy.
2. Fire contractors - reduce budget expenditure. Manager is a cost-saving guy.
It's a win/win !

Anyone - how was it who said "if you think hiring a professional is expensive - try hiring an amateur"?

It is usually attributed to Red Adair, I can't find anything to back that up though.
