Not always, but in this case it is due to the time difference. The dow sold off big into the close in NY long after the close in Europe. So there was some catching up to do.How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

FTSE (and the British economy) has a disproportionally large number of financial stocks, which are falling the most.Originally posted by Andy2 View PostWhy does FTSE always falls more than DOW ?Comment

They are winding him up in his office and he is getting upset. The dow is bouncing around 9800 for about 3 hours now. I'm not sure what I want to happen next. I don't really want the guy look a prat in his office.Originally posted by ASB View PostSo, just how was it for you then ?

I forgot about that! Here you go: Yahoo Finance charts of FTSE, DowOriginally posted by BrilloPad View PostWasn't there a time in 1987 when the DJ and FTSE were about the same level?
Damn it. You have to adjust the chart to see it back in '87 but yes, they crossed over several times.Last edited by HairyArsedBloke; 6 October 2008, 17:34.How did this happen? Who's to blame?
