The fact it has a boot and can fit people in the back is quite a big plus over some of its competitors in my opinion.

My TT averages 29mpg. Combination of mway & local pootles.

If you do get one check it's history carefully to ensure it's had the required mods. There were two specific issue. High (< 1000 mile per litre) oil consumption on some models (and this might imply the dreaded rotor tip wear).

Also there was a curious problem at some point with the ECU. If it was hot and then an attempt was made to restart it at just the wrong temperature it wouldn't start, and also wouldn't start for quite some time.

Long term longevity of any wankel is questionable.

There is a reason why God invented big V8 engines.

Btw, some upstart in a Passat tried to beat me at the lights last Friday. It wasn't you MB, was it?

Also had one until sadly it was stolen 3 weeks ago :-(
hoping to get another when the insurance comes through.

You can get two normal sized adults in the back, the boot space is quite decent, bit awkward getting in and out i found though. I had the 1.3 and it is treated as 2.6 by insurance companies.

Its pricey for tax currently £400, £440 from next April and I believe its going up to £455 in 2010 - with the first years tax costing a grand from 2010 if you get a brand new one.

Great car though, i found it really fun to drive, you do have to check the oil after every two fills, but i found that it wasnt that thirsty on oil.

            Miss mine :-(

I'm actually looking to test-drive the new R3 version; which I assume has any wrinkles from earlier versions ironed out. I doubt I'd be looking to buy a brand new one though, don't really see the point.

No, she was lying across the laps of a guy and a girl in the back seats.

A very small guy would also do the trick. I imagine it was uncomfortable, as the centre console is pretty big and made of plastic, etc
