There most certainly is not. I personally have had evidence for the existence of the tooth fairy, whereas I have not seen this god person perform any miracles. -
Well, if you'd been around when Moses was, you'd have the same amount of evidence.Originally posted by expat View PostThere most certainly is not. No but generally the scientific method does not posit random "things" to be falsified. As we can explain God as a human cultural artefact then the theory to be falsified is that God is NOT a human cultural artefact, in which case you would have to prove that the events that various religions claim to be true from their holy books e.g. the virgin birth actually happened.Originally posted by Moscow Mule View PostIs the existence of the tooth fairy falsifiable?
Ah! So "God" is your term for the possibility of extra terrestrial intelligence. In that case I completely agree that statistically speaking there is probably some non-earthly intelligence out there. The evidence suggests they haven't been found or found us yet though.Originally posted by Moscow Mule View PostTo put it another way - why isn't it possible that some being planted the spark from which you evolved (admitted, it was probably more of a squib). The God illusion may well be a "cultural artefact", but the possibility of there being something more powerful in the universe than humans cannot be denied by anybody with a grasp of statistics and the number of planets in our galaxy alone.
.
I will say one thing though, I'm pretty sure, if it exists, this ET intelligence ("God") does not interfere with earth.
Another possibility of course is that the presence of intelligence on earth is an outlier or Black Swan event.
Well we should stop the discussion then as your judgement of eveidence is obviously poorOriginally posted by Moscow Mule View PostAnd - as it happens, I'm not on the fence with the tooth fairies - don't you remember those black and white pictures from the 1930s? Proof positive if you ask me.

Indeed, but that's a long way from proving your hypothesis.Originally posted by sasguru View PostThe evidence suggests they haven't been found or found us yet though.
You see Black Swans everywhere, which is why I'm an Agnostic, not an Atheist.Originally posted by sasguru View PostAnother possibility of course is that the presence of intelligence on earth is an outlier or Black Swan event."See, you think I give a tulip. "yet the atheists believe". What do you mean? Who are you talking about. Do you have any evidence that "yet the atheists believe"?Originally posted by contractor79 View Postno evidence for ETs, yet the atheists believe. Nice faith.
Or even that they exist?Comment

Happy days are here again.....
We're in the money ....
and all those other songs from the depression eraHow did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Was Jesus a Socialist? Helping the less fortunate, care for the poor, the ill the infirm, fairness. Working class carpenter. Liberal leftie, beardy weirdy!
or a
Capitalist? Small bussineman (carpenter). Plan B of performing miracles on the side. Would he split his dividends, starting only with one dividend and then paying a multititude of people? Would he have a MOO to God? could he actually be substituted? Would he work at Easter and could his second rising validate the clause? Would the IR nail his balls to the cross? The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment
