Had it, didn't like it. Picture and sound is compressed so much that its only marginally better when it pipes it out onto the TV, my TV sits 5m away from the furniture and from that distance it all looks the same anyway.

Compare SkyHD picture to Bluray and you will see the difference

Content is improving all the time. What content do you specifically think is missing?

True Dolby decoding? Sky transmit a pseudo Dolby signal

True HD? Sky HD transmit at a lower resolution

Sky HD transmit at 1080i. As far as I'm aware, no-one is transmitting 1080p content.

I did look at Freesat but there's only 2 HD channels against Sky's 16.

Seems I'm going to enjoy it then. I watched Planet Earth yesterday and the clarity was amazing.
              Older and ...well, just older!!

transmission is 720p upscaled. It only looks good because of SD broadcast's, As I stated, play a bluray title on a decent player and then SkyHD looks like SDTV

Sorry, I disagree. Where's your source for this?

His source is the Sky HD box.

"There are 2 types of HD transmission, the highest being called a 1080 transmission which is of an even higher quality, and again depends on if your TV can reproduce this level of pixels. However at this moment in time there are no programs being broadcast in 1080."

I also finished a stint for Sky a few months ago and up until then they had not touched a 1080 broadcast as the mpeg4 compression/decompression couldn't handle it and keep a stable picture
