2 A cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree

You don't need muscles to form a good image, just an aperture. A wider aperture allows you to gather more light, but even our eyes don't need muscles to focus anything over about 6 metres away.

Analogy:

So, again: Where'd the bleedin' muscles pop up from and how come a lens suddenly just appeared? Further: how did it become attached to the hitherto redundant muscles? What were those muscles doing in the eye prior to their happy union with the lens?

they were originally two internal organs operating side by side (scientists don't know what the organs were originally for) but then a slimy thing swam a bit too deep and pop in an instant the internal organs herniated to the outside enabling said slimy thing to peer into the gloom.
