I keep on thinking it's Captain Ahab in Moby Dick, but I suspect I'm wrong.

Big fan of ELP and was listening to Pirates last night on YouTube (hashed up pirate movies to the song). Brought back memories.

Ah - didnt see this one till now - no matter as I wasnt au fait with this one - I think the last ELP album I had was Brain Salad Surgery.

Talking of Captains - who can nail this one - same rules apply -

The Captain leads his dance right on through the night
                - join the dance ....

Follow on! Till the Grail sun sets in the mould.
Follow on! Till the gold is cold.

Dancing out with the moonlit knight,
Knights of the Green Shield stamp and shout.

Dont know ? From the same song some more extracts (clue it is the opening song of the album released in 1973 )

Can you tell me where my country lies?"
said the unifaun to his true love's eyes.
"It lies with me!" cried the Queen of Maybe
                  - for her merchandise, he traded in his prize

                  Citizens of Hope & Glory,
Time goes by - it's the 'time of your life'.
                  Easy now, sit you down.
                  Chewing through your Wimpey dreams,
                  they eat without a sound;

Googled it. Was suprised by the answer actually as I wouldn't have come close to guessing that.

I am a young mariner headed to war
                      I'm thinkin' 'bout my family
                      and what it was for
                      There's water on the wood
                      and the sails feel good
And when I get to shore
I hope that I can kill good.

                      My father was a sailor
                      named Captain Kennedy
                      He lost his wooden schooner
to the Germans on the sea
                      Exploded on the water
                      for everyone to see
                      And humiliate that American
                      Captain Kennedy.

I saw him in Nassau in 1971
                      His strength was failin'
but he still ran a run
                      He worked 'til his fingers
                      wore to the bone
                      To buy that wooden schooner
                      and sail on his own.

He was known in the islands
                      as hundred foot iron
                      That steel hull freighter
                      was passin' its time
                      And time flew by faster
                      with life on the sea
                      And the days grew shorter
                      for Captain Kennedy.
