I once spent a night in Schipol.Originally posted by Pondlife View PostBy the looks of things I will be spending most of tonight in f'íng Schipol!
My then-partner was Dutch, and she'd been off travelling around India and Thailand for three months while I stayed at home, watering the apes. The plan was that, when she flew back, I'd meet her at Schipol and we'd spend a couple of days in Amsterdam, then go and stay with her parents in Noord Holland for a few days, then travel round The Netherlands for a week or so.
However, from my vantage point at home, I perceived a deep flaw in the early stages of this plan: it involved her arriving at Schipol at about six in the morning, having flown all the way from India, and then waiting for me to arrive on an EasyJet flight at about four in the afternoon.
This business of spending the day in the airport after a long flight seemed harsh to me, but in those days (1998) Internet access wasn't as commonly available as it is now, so I couldn't reach her by email to adjust the plan in advance.
Anyway, I got an EasyJet flight from Liverpool the night before she was due to arrive, which deposited me at Schipol at around ten at night. I then spent the rest of the night in the airport (and met some friendly bar staff) and, when her plane arrived, I went and waited at the relevant exit from the Arrivals area for her to emerge.
She was astonished but delighted when I hailed her... and it had the advantage that we were equally knackered upon meeting up after three months apart

I assume you've already seen the Alabama Challenge? Even if you have, it's always worth watching again, if only to see James May claiming he can't be a homosexual because he's got childrenOriginally posted by milanbenes View Postanyone know any good TopGear vids I can watch
EDIT: I remembered it incorrectly - even funnier, it was Clarkson, not May
