Bought a 03 Merc CLK 320 for 17K about 20 months ago and with a such a depressed market, in light of fuel costs and the hike to £450 odd for car tax. I've only done about 4,000 miles in it as I was working in London and now I'm abroad.

To be sure of a sale I'm probably going to have to loose 5K or something
I could have bloody used taxis for less than that!

You can get a good 3 yr old Ford Focus for <£5k, 40mpg, cheap servicing and tax, low depreciation, insurance etc) drives great, looks ok and will do everything you need from a car.
