In some ways I prefer the following, discovered by Hermite in 1859:

    e^(pi . SQRT(163)) = 262537412640768743.9999999999992500..

Ramanujan later proved that one of the roots of:

    (x^3 - 6.x^2 + 4.x - 2)^24 - 24 = 0

    is:

    262537412640768743.9999999999992511..

      ooooooh Threaded, that was clever!

However did you get from :

      e^(i pi) +1 = 0 to e^(i pi) = -1

Feck me, you must be some sort of brilliant mathematician or somefink!

Ah, but as Chico finds so infuriating, we live in a relative world. One man's stationary fly is another mans squished bug whizzing along at 70mph.

Churchill: Gauss said that if it is not immediately obvious, then you'll never make it as a mathematician...

Or something like that, in German or Latin.
Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

Threaded, I was taking the piss!

Did you ever get picked on at school for being so "special"?

              But -1 = 0 - 1 so it is not a fundamental number

                you are missing the point

we all know that a fly can stop a car, using your proof. But the same fly could stop a moped, or a container truck, depending on what it gets hit by.
The fly would stop the vehicle in exactly the same way , therefore because the mass of the vehicle varies the mass of the fly must vary upon impact.
This is also a neat proof of Einsteins theory that gf mass is dependant upon beer.
The same principle applies to something else as well, I think

                      Is 0 a number

try isnumeric(0) in vba and it returns true

                      therefore its a number
