I believe Teflon Tone is also of a Scottish persuasion.

Anyway, don't get me started on those bloody Danes!!
It’s more than just some battles that were fought hundreds of years ago. Try researching events like the Glencoe massacre, the Darien scheme and the Highland clearances. Research the name "Butcher Cumberland" and see why he gained this reputation after Culloden.

Don’t forget, we never asked Edward to come North.

How was the Darien scheme the fault of England?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

The English Government opposed it and banned investment by English citizens.

The English and Dutch Governments actively prohibited any assistance being given to the Darien colonists for fear of upsetting the Spanish. King William punished the Scots for skirmishing with the Spanish, by stopping all trade with them, notably from nearby Jamaica. Don’t forget, this was meant to be the King of Scotland as well.

Article fifteen of the Act of the Union itself sets out the payments that the English will make to recompense the shareholders of the Company of Scotland for Darien.

The English government knew fine well that breaking Darien would lead to the Union of the parliaments.

And it was only 320 years ago, too.

Don't worry, I don't hate the English. I'm just pointing out that in the last 700 years there's a lot of oppression in the History books and it all reflects one way. You only have to look at Wales and Ireland to see the same thing.

I feel oppression gives a nation a stronger sense of identity.
