I don’t care what they do with the bits of the Snot Goblin’s body after he has been hung, drawn and quartered. Except the head, of course, that has to be on a pike at Traitors’ Gate at the Tower of London; next to that of B’Liar. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Originally posted by Churchill View PostErm, no she wasn't. It was the previous occupants of No.10 who said to the Argentinian Government "Well, it doesn't look like we're in a posiition to maintain the Falklands, how're you fixed?" A similar position to that taken with Spain over Gibraltar. PSB, Learn your history young man.
It's true that the previous lot had started negotiations - but Thatcher did nothing to conclude the negotiations - if the answer was "no change" and she was so tough - why not just say so?
The Thatcher government withdrew HMS Endurance from the Falklands in 1981 - defence cuts.
Even in March 1982 she took no action after the scrap metal dealers landed on South Georgia with an Argentine Naval escort.
This is an interesting perspective, based on the facts rather than the revisionist version, and no I don't know the bloke who wrote it.
As for my having to "learn history" - I am aware of Thatchers account that the invasion was a total surprise - but it happened on her watch and she should have known. I wonder if history would have been so kind to Jovial Jim if it had happened on his watch - of course it nearly did in 1977, but he sent Dreadnought because he hadn't cut all the budgets.Comment
