Anyone been to Vegas?

Luxor is a bit run down now, reminded me of council flats inside the pyramid.

I would stay at Casears if going again, also it is a more central location.

Trips:
Copter trip of Grand Canyon - don't take the plane, you get a rubbish view apparently. Our trip landed in the Canyon & you had a champagne breakfast

Hoover Dam - guided tour, quite interesting

Black Canyon Trip - http://blackcanyonadventures.com/ - this was the best thing we did, it's a really calm boat trip stopping at interesting places down the canyon

Star Trek - The Experiance @ the Hilton, quite a fun 4D Borg Invasion ride

Food:
Picasso's at Bellagio if you feel like splashing out, fine dining with actual Picassio pictures behind you



Don't go off the strip - one block off the strip and it is quite dangerous, some taxi drivers refuse to take you into certain areas

Caesars is tulipe. MGM Grand much nicer.

Me and my missus got married in Vegas, so you could always try that! We were taken to the chapel in a Limo and then were driven through the chapel doors by Elvis in a pink Cadillac whlst he was singing "Viva Las Vegas". It was wild!

Helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon cannot be missed. We landed on the canyon floor for a picnic. Must have been at least 3 hours of flying.

Make sure you visit the Wynn hotel, it's the smartest one on the strip. Oh, and if you win in the casino, there's a Ferrari dealership in the hotel.

The restaurants are miles better and cheaper than anything you will get in London. Best restaurant is Mix at the Mandalay Bay.

Shopping - best place are the forum shops at Caesar's Palace. All the designers are there.

We combined Vegas with LA and San Fran. Make sure you hire a car in LA if you go there. There are no such thing as pedestrians

Well if your a trekky then the Star Trek Experience in the Hilton is well worth doing. Don't let the Girlfriend/Wife anyway near Caesar's Palance with a Credit Card.

Actually the Casinos are worth it for a visit let alone actually gambling any money. When I went the Venetian was being built, but what I've seen of it could be worth it. You also have a mini Paris - now who could resist a romantic evening which takes in both Venice and Paris (even an erstaz one)

My Observations: it very false and full of tat like Blackpool. It's overflowing with prostitutes and pimps who hassle you relentlessly (saw one get punched in the face by her pimp).
The gambling can be fun, but it's not a long term holiday destination. It's the kind of place you go once and never return IMHO

I enjoyed eating at Paris and The Stratosphere revolving restaurant (although the Strat itself is awful)

The helo to the GC is not to be missed (we also did a night flight over vegas, thrown in for free, so well worth it!)

Last time we stayed at Treasure Island (good value), next time we will stay at the Bellagio.

get a cab to the old strip (Freemont Street, Lucky Strike etc) have a look, then get a cab back. DONT WALK BACK (or as suggested above anywhere off the strip).

I've never heard such tripe. Blackpool is a slum in comparison. Actually it's a slum compared with anywhere.

I had a better experience on a gondola in the Venetian than I did in Venice!

Of course it has more money but it's no less tacky than Blackpool, what do you expect for a city built on vice? Much more scummy than I expected. It's worth seeing, but there are far better places to visit in the USA. Then again if you prefer a plastic impersonation to real history, what can I say!
