(Not) working from home

I phone ClientCo and said I wouldn't be in:

a) I've my own paperwork to do;
b) they are deciding what to give me next and I'm just waiting on people getting back to me.

So out of the goodness of my heart I said I will be working on my own work today which will save them some pennies.

Since then I have had an ongoing email correspondence with one of the managers there about my terms & conditions. She started it by asking if I was allowed time off. So whilst reading newsgroups, posting here and doing paperwork, I've been explaining to her how IR35-proof contracts work.

I've had five so far and replied to each one, but in such a way as to prompt another question.

So far I've managed nearly two hours of chargeable time and it's not even 11:00.

I wonder if I can keep this up all day?

To most Big Co clients, you are an employee. A bloody expensive one who decides they are not going to turn up today.

I'll give you that one. But at the end of the day as long as they aren't paying and you have followed proper protocols for informing your management you will not be in.

They aren't paying and probably won't give a monkey's as long as it isn't to the detriment of a current project. Your manage will think their budget will be slightly better off!
