The discussion on alternative transports reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask here for a while.
Every couple of weeks or so, as I drive through central London on the way home in the evening (typically around 8pm), a crowd of several hundred roller skaters suddenly appears. I usually see them heading up Piccadilly, or on the Embankment, and they really shift - they're all past in a couple of minutes.
I was wondering if anyone knew who they were, or what they're up to, if anything (besides just roller skating for the hell of it). I'd guess it's some kind of campaign, but haven't spotted any obvious logos or themed attire such as T shirts or hats. They seem a cheerful lot, and quite a mixed bunch, including a few kids.
