Make all countries vote then.. the EU would be pretty empty ...

BBC TV today said they would just hold another referendum! Apparently happened twice in last five years (Ireland and DEnmark) each time they voted yes second time.

Not sure why all countries dont have to vote on this. very odd.

a meant to post this yesterday - but :-

        http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/mai.../cneuro113.xml

Support for euro in doubt as Germans reject Latin bloc notes

Italian notes have an "S" from the Instituto Poligrafico in Rome, and Spanish notes have a "V" from the Fabrica Nacional de Moneda in Madrid. The notes are entirely interchangeable and circulate freely through the eurozone and, indeed, beyond.

People clearly suspect that southern notes may lose value in a crisis, or if the eurozone breaks apart. This is what happened in the US in the Jackson era of the 1840s when dollar notes from different regions traded at different values.

        ========================================

The first sign of issues for the Euro?

          That's the one!

Keep 'em voting until they come out with the answer you wanted in the first place - either that or bribe the f*ckers!

We can? It hasn't worked so far.

Then why bother with a referendum at all?

Im not sure its really about transfering more power to europe. The changes to the voting system are mainly to allow the union to actually make descisions based on qualified majority. It seems odd that we would want bulgaria holding sway over the wishes of the rest of the continent, for example. My feeling is that if we are in europe, and we want europe to function, then its a necessary piece of legislation.

I think the irish should now face another vote to either

                1. Ratify
                or
                2. Leave the union, and let the rest of us get on with trying to create something better than the status quo.
It is most certainly about transferring more powers to Europe. Majority voting in many areas will replace the existing system whereby all countries have to vote. There will also be a single EU ambassador. These are scratching the surface of what is tantamount to creating a European constitution over which we as individuals have no power to control.

If the EU cannot gets its auditors to pass its accounts and put its house in order how on earth is going to be entrusted with more power. It is fools like you who lack the intellect to go any further than arguing that anyone who disagrees with the grand plan of the EU superstate should leave the EU.

It most certainly is about transferring more power to Europe. What's more, transferring it to people who are unaccountable to us.

And if you don't want Bulgaria holding sway over the wishes of the rest of the continent, you shouldn't have let them join, should you.

I don't know what you mean by "wanting europe to function" and I don't think you do either, except perhaps some fluffy-bunny concept of all friends together being able to buy Latte in Helsinki and Madrid with the same banknotes. Europe DOES function.

The EU accounts have not been ratified for 13 years, and the EU don't even care. If anyone raises an objection they are sacked. That is Soviet form. And you want closer integration with such an organisation? It is only the ignorance and inertia of millions like yourself that allow this underhand project to creep onwards.
