Everywhere is safe until you get attacked. Might be better to look at local crime statistics before you decide South Central LA is lovely
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I have a tendency of dragging my wife and kids through the most unsavoury parts of New York. I was down at the Bowery with them going to visit CBGBs before it shut (the guy let up up on stage - one of my best memories)

Last year we went for a walk through Hell's Kitchen, and on the way back, my 6 year old said "why are those two black men arguing?" and sure enough, there was two homies arguing vehemently over a briefcase, just like a scene from Starsky & Hutch. I just said "eyes straight ahead" and off we went at some speed.

Never had any problems anywhere in New York, places like Harlem are very safe these days. But then, I'm not a typical "target" being a 6 foot bulky Scotsman with angry eyebrows.
The bowery is becoming gentrified, as it's clinton ;-) - I lived in Hells Kitchen for 6 months, and never felt in the slightest bit unsafe there.

He was in his thrieties, out with a friend for a few beers and in a normal club - no hardcore dance venue and not in a dodgy area or anything. Glasgows knife culture and all that.

Saying that think he just got unlucky, some girl wearing a short skirt bent over in front of them and his mate made some comment. Unfortunately her boyfriend was out on parole - scariest part of that is it came out that he'd done another couple of people while he was out before he was locked up again.

I've never understood it, unless your a physician in the hospital, the point it becomes necessary to carry a knife with the intention of using it to puncture another's skin. Poking a piece of metal into the body, which has no earthly business being there.

If someone comes at you with a knife, grab the wrist, break the fingers...

Personally I'd knee cap the little sheets.

Yeh but let's face it, it's quality over quantity. I'd rather be stabbed in Glasgow, than bored to tears in any of those places.
