Any other gigs out there for you at the moment ?

In the current market .... take the extension, take more odd days off / long weekends over the summer, skill up on anything you've been meaning to look at. And you can always interview and walk if something else better comes along.

I really don't want to take the extension because I'm finding the work so tedious it's like wading through treacle, yet given the current state of the economy and the testing market I'm tempted to take the money, shut my mouth and hope I'm not brain dead by February.

All advice sensible or otherwise appreciated.

Thanks all, there's some really good advice in this thread

Having read and digested, I think I'll take the renewal and just make sure I take regular long weekends and spend those dull quiet times improving my skillset and making myself more marketable to the next client.

          Eo has the right idea.

          take the renewal.

No brainer, you have the perfect job. Next you'll be saying you'd like a stressful job.

It should be a no brainer, but...

I'm in a similar situation, easy gig but very very dull. Due to expire in mid July but renewal offer likely. I'm ready to just walk tbh but common sense is telling me to stay. A renewal would tip me over my "no more than 12 months with a client" rule though.

So not an easy one really - good luck with what you decide do. Let us know
Eeyore was very glad to be able to stop thinking for a little, in order to say "How do you do" in a gloomy manner to Pooh.
"And how are you?" said Winnie-the-Pooh.
Eeyore shook his head from side to side. "Not very how," he said. "I don't seem to felt at all how for a long time."

stick it out and do some nifty disco dance steps under the desk to keep your spirits up.

Totally agree with the other posts, go for renewal, add some more strings to your bow, take days off to break it up etc etc.

Why not treat yourself to something as well. A new top spec moby, new car, house gadget or whatever. Always makes me feel better when I'm stuck doing something thats carp.
