English men repressed homosexuals, drunkards or woman haters
I found the contract that I'm at by contacting a friend who happened to be working for a client who needed someone like me. As I couldn't work direct, I phoned my agent and told him that I had found a nice contract, got myself an interview which was successful, and could he please be my agent.
That was 12 years ago, and I'm still here. How's that for easy pickings?
I read that and immediately cringe at the potential size of an IR35 employment tax bill.
Yes, I'm a bog standard "within IR35" case. That's why, as I've said before, I've been paying it since it started in 2000. Obviously, I was much better off during the first 4 years of this contract, but I'm still doing ok.
