BTW Why Iran in 79. The revolution made sense to the Iranians at the time, and from their perspective was a sh!tload better than the death squads operating under the shah and the dictatorship he'd created.

One has to look after ones own interests in this world. I'm not here to change the world, just to make sure my family is well provided for.

It also seems that when many of the German people realised a bad thing was happening the fanatics were in a position to force them to go along with it.
Apparently there was quite some local protest to Dachau prison when it opened. That was untill they were given the option of not protesting or becoming residents.
I cant blame the German people for their survival instinct though a bit more backbone may have saved a world of hurt.
I wonder what we would do given the same choices.
