Just spoke to my mates at ABN and RBOS and both have been asked to take a 10% rate cut, as it said it was take it or leave.

RBS have swallowed ABN AMRO and the letter I received states contractors are affected at both banks (I work for the latter).Originally posted by Advocate View PostThe article only mentions RBS...Comment

Banking seem to like doing this. It happened to me when working for Barclays in 2002. I was told to take a 20% cut or walk. So I said I'd walk. My manager ringfenced my contract and told me not to tell anyone, since it was highly exceptional. I stayed there another 18 months on my original rate.Cooking doesn't get tougher than this.Comment

Ditto, not heard a peep yet. It's not as clear cut as "RBS have swallowed ABN" though...Originally posted by uncle_albert View PostRBS have swallowed ABN AMRO and the letter I received states contractors are affected at both banks (I work for the latter).B00med!Comment

Careful, I'll set Lucy on to you..."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."Comment

I was at RBOS up until 7-8 months ago, the area I was in out of 100 staff 90 were contractors they were 'totally' dependent on them. Talking to them today most say they are going to leave but I recon when it comes to it most will stay. Even some hardcore subject area gurus I know are having trouble getting gigs in the city at the moment. I'm digging in but I know Im out of here in October hopefully things will get better by then
