I am a contractor's wife and I would like to know your opinion (or your wife's). How do you measure your success? I know of course, the most simple way is the hourly rate but come on, what about the goodies?

For example, how many Louis Vuitton handbags does your wife have?

In the beginning of the life as a contractor's wife life is exciting, you go to luxury shops, exotic vacations, you have living staff, a gardener and a big SUV, and then what do you do after that?

My husband keeps working and the money just keep piling up. Is this success?

I told my husband that the next thing we should go for is a helicopter but he tells me that they crash too often.

Can you please help me out? What do you do with your money?
Or even better, let me rephrase that:

Since you are working hard all day long, what does your wife do with YOUR money?

The more successful we IT contractors are, and the money pours in, the more testosterone we have swilling around in our bodies (the males among us - not sure what the female equivalent is, but probably the same judging by some female contractors I've worked with).

But anyway, all that has to go somewhere. Once you have a gardener, a butler, a luxury yacht, and a country estate (and which of us hasn't?), the question is how often does your husband come home and ravish you over the kitchen table? If the answer is rarely if ever, then he must have a mistress and all those goodies are guilt presents.

So I'd keep a close eye on his mobile phone calls, and check his pockets each night, assuming he comes home at all and isn't "working late in the office"

ok here is the lowdown....

Most male IT professional wive's are not the best looking and therefore not the most demanding....

As for the contractor IT male variety these guys are prey to women who want a better than average life but have not bagged the millionaire man, this marriage set up I've seen to fail in divorce in many cases paticularly when the chips are down.

I've never seen a "high maintenance" woman / model or upper class / or "Wag wannabe" ever date any IT man.

IT is a doomed profession and doesn't have any respectability hence being less attractive to women, interesting how a lower paid profession ie "Firemen" attract a higher pedigree of women.

Me .. well I look about and I see women who are plain and nasty or just plain nasty all over the place, I'm going to quit this soon become a millionair and marry an Invana Trump with a water tight pre-nuptual agreement.

I agree with your analysis except for this point. Over the years I have never observed a lack of good looks have any moderation to the demands a woman makes. It may affect the chances of those demands being met, but not the existence demands themselves.

Anyway, my brothers, I have seen the light. It has often been said that “if it wasn’t for sex, a man would have nothing to do with a woman”. Well, there is a solution to that problem.
