    Indeed, and I will be.

Funny thing is though that getting divorced was the pick up the jacksy my ex needed and she has got a job and sorted herself out. If she'd have only done that 5 yrs ago...

So did mine, we didn't have any kids either. Got a clean break in the end.

Did you end up paying maintenance?

Nope - I paid some pending the court hearings on the advice of my lawyer, but once we agreed the clean break, no more.

I'm never getting married again - my current partner thinks it's a bit harsh to base the rest of my life on one bad experience, but really - why would any man get married?

What was her justification for maintenance?

Honest to God, I do not know how some women can be so greedy - why would you want maintenance? A share of the marital home yes - especially if it's being sold and ye both need to set up elsewhere but other than that... no way.

Peoplesoft - it's a shame you feel that way, don't tar all women with the same brush - your new Mrs, doesn't deserve it.

Well, perhaps, but I never thought the old one would be like that!

Difference in incomes - she gave up a perfectly good career and retrained (with my blessing and partially at my expense), then set up a daft business that made next to no money, but allowed her to swan around all over the world playing at being an International businesswoman and running up debts spending on designer gear in airports.

The problem is, the more supportive you are in the marriage, the more you get shafted in the divorce.

That's why you should always be non-committal and able to spin inaction as support.

Just another case where the father gets a good shoeing. No-one seems to care about the children of this poor chap. Anyone who gets married or has kids - you are a loser.

Lesson - dont get married, dont have kids.
I know its the "in" thing on this site to assume everything is the woman's fault, but to give a bit of balance to the one eyed views we have on this site from the FFJ fanatics:

worsened by the husband's "failure to make candid disclosure of his financial circumstances".

Unfortunately not all women are good catholic girls who were brought up with proper set of morales and a good work ethic!!!
