and which "mainland" has a greater diversity of culture, cuisine language etc than London?
I bet you can't get Ebbelwoi, Grüne Sosse or Saumagen (or even Presskopf!) in London...Anyway, I though there was no diversity now as they're all naturalised Brits which means that their culture belongs to you now?
“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”
London is a great city, just as New York, I think. However when you compare life abroad you see that a lot is missing in terms of human interactions and quality of life which doesn't involve a pub. Also the cost of having something nice in London is very high, even relatively to the high salaries you can make there. The best option if you are not too young any longer is to go outside London but to be honest that offers a lot less than what you get in many other countries, a very stressful commute and still very expensive. That, of course, is the point of view of a foreigner who is not so attached to the local culture. So I would put my thumb up for London but only if you are <35 or single and with a good job.
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.
I did not say London was a better place to live than anywhere else, I merely pointed out that your own sweeping statement might not be correct. Your answer is very defensive
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone
sorry to hijack but im wondering if you have some advice.
Me and the wife want to go to aus for a year to work and play... We both have good degrees and she has a masters.
Whats our best/quickest option to go out there for a year?
Many thanks,
TM
Depends if you're under or over 30! If you're under 30 you can get a young person's working visa and go out there for a year with no hassle at all (IIRC you can only work for 6 months in each job you have).
Otherwise there's no real easy option to just go for a year if you want to work. One of you would either need a sponsored 457 visa or have to apply as a skilled migrant (which isn't cheap).
It's all really quite complicated, I'd suggest starting here.
