I used the Dualit one in my flat (furnished, I'm not forking out lots of cash for an over-engineered electric heater) last night.

I burnt myself, the toast's a pain to get out of the little holder thing, it doesn't pop up to let you know it's finished all it does is stop making the incessantly annoying clicking sound as it attempts to warm the bread.
Not only that, it's huge but still only does two slices.

I want my cheap toaster back!

Had one at uni, and after a particularly heavy session on the sauce, I came back home and put some crumpets on. Had to replace the worktop and clean up all the sooted walls the next day.
Distracted from your crumpets, by your crumpet!

I can't believe everybody's taken this thread so seriously.

Buying smaller bread doesn't seem like a good solution.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Perhaps these £5 toasters are designed for the European market where they have smaller bread?

It's not. Get a Dualit, it's the contractor's toaster of choice.

Why on earth aren't you asking Jeeves to do it on your open fire and be damned with the toaster?

I concur. You get what you pay for and mine is great.

That's today's big issue out of the way...

Dualit can suck on my large granary slices of cold bread!

I'm going to use the microwave on my next toasty outing.

That's just going to give you soggy warm bread. Most unsatisfactory.
