What the railway needs is a re-think on the model. The franchises are not long enough. Too often we hear of companies which do not invest in trains and stations because they could not payback the investment before the franchise ends - and they may not win it back.
They are also too expensive: once the companies have paid the government for the franchise they have no money left for investment. That's the price of privatisation: government gets money to make it look as if they have balanced income with expenditure (they haven't), national infrastructure crumbles as govt has siphoned off all its funds.
This would be the Terminal 5 BA?, the thousands of missing bags BA?
That was actually BAA's responsibility, but BA have rather magnanimously not passed the buck.
BAA supplied a list of entry codes to all BA staff. Unfortunately the spreadsheet that they supplied with name and entry code had dropped a cell and everybody tried entering the T5 building with the wrong numbers. Thus, BA staff found themselves locked out.
Many won't argue against that she was a necessary medicine DA, point is that maybe the medicine was a bit on the extreme side (That's still my take). We've been through this one a tonne of times, you'll start coming out with your usual bollocks of putting words in peoples mouths, rake on the old middle class guilt thing (WTF is that anyway?), and completely fail to listen to anyone else's point.
Some of her policies were necessary, some were entirely unnecessary. There's more to politics than pure economics, and it's possible to debate some of her economic policies and long term effects as well.
Repeating myself, no ones gonna change their mind at this late juncture so it's pure tub thumping retrospective commentary.
How this country misses Thatcher and government competence!!
I have just heard that at long last cannabis is to be reclassified because declassification has been such an enormous failure.
This follows closely on the heels of the U-turn on the 10% tax rate, and another U-turn is rumoured soon over 42 day holding without trial.
Is there anything this lot have been competent at, considering that inflation, interest rates and thus the economy now also going down the pan!!!
the conservative party? demented, authoritarian swivel-eyed liars and perverts, every last blue-rinsed one of them, and about as good for Britain as the Luftwaffe. i'm no fan of Labour but at least they don't blatantly despise the population they govern.

I'll pick fruit if they'll pay me £550 a day. £650 for bananas. I've heard they're harder work. Put me forward and see what they say ... also must be London based, might consider some foreign travel, but I'm not living out of a suitcase in some godforsaken backwater.
