I can't understand why poor Snaw is getting a kicking for this comment by Tay.
I'd argue about getting a kicking, but a few sheep shagging comments and references to the kiwi propensity for choking on big occasions seems to have riled my little friend Tay.
It's like getting savaged by a sheep.

Wasn't meant as a put down an apologies if it came across that way, just the instinctive reaction of anyone who's lived in NYC towards times square (Or staying in a hotel around there) - don't know anyone who has lived there who doesn't dislike it.
It's minging; it is overpriced, it is overcrowded, it is surrounded by average restaurants that overcharge and rip off tourists and tacky shops. It is a must for anyone to visit on their first trip to NYC cause it's iconic but not as a base to live in.
Not sure what other way I could put that, that wouldn't come across as a put down. But without trying to offend you I think it's about as bad a suggestion as someone could put for a place to be based in NYC. If that's pompous then fine, I'm pompous.

(And please don't listen to anyone who suggests a hotel near times square).
I agree with you 100% that it would be a crap place to live. BUT if you're going for a few days, where better to experience the commercialism that typifies New York? It's all about viewpoints.
FWIW, it was clean when I went there and the streets/sidewalks weren't any busier than any of the other big streets in the city.
"See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."
I took my wife out here 2 years ago for a surprise birthday - she didn't know where we were going until we were taxying (she missed the first call and I "blindfolded" her through security). Not actually putting a blindfold on here of course, we would have been bundled into the interview rooms sharpish.

I wasn't talking about as a place to live, I mentioned as a place to base yourself (Or not). It's easy to visit and get that experience, but I gave a list of reasons why it's not a great base - and you've got to be kidding if you think times square isn't any busier than the rest of the city. It's in a league of it's own in that respect. Maybe early in the morning or on a rainy midweek during the day, but in general it's heaving.
Anyway, you're entitled to your perspective - I'll happily disagree with you, and put my point across. I'll choose to ignore Tay cause he's not really contributing, just stalking me looking for an excuse to have a go.
