Same here when it comes to contracts. They aren't a passion of mine so I can't get excited about them. As a result, I am in talks about contracts that seem as cushy as possible.

    One of the calls today:

Agent: They are very much a 9-5 organisation. How does that sound?
    Xeno: I love them already.

I figure it can only be a good thing taking on a challenge, and the rewards would be worth it.

So, my question is, what similar tales/experiences does the panel have? good or bad
You want to read up on the Death March and decide if that is what this project will be.

If so, walk away. No amount of hard work can get around that. It might sound like a good idea now, but, the reality is often very different.

I suppose it depends. I've done some stuff where I have frankly been out of my depth before and enjoyed the growth and other times have been physically shattered, delivered a crap result and been left with mental scars.

Pretty much you have to go with the risk-reward thing

Is the risk of faliure, or loss of personal time etc worth the reward - cash, growth, experience

Work out what matters the most to you from the situation

Do it. Once you've got your head round (2 months?) it you'll be back posting on here 50 times a day, but getting a nice rate instead of the f all you'd be getting on the bench.
