My current renewal ends on 5 May, and there's not much chance of it being renewed again, as there's only typically an hour or two's work a day and the client even with their haphazard management style are starting to twig that I'm a luxury they can't afford

One contract in the north west that I applied for had 30 applicants according to the agent, which is a little worrying.

Reminds me of the last downturn when there would be queues of contractors turning up for an interview, and getting the nod instead of them was more a lottery than anything.

I'm in limbo at the moment. Looks like I may have landed a contract but got to wait 4-6 weeks for the security vetting before I can be sure, and anything can happen to the project by then. Doesn't look like much else is going to turn up in the meantime.

Good luck to everybody who isn't a .net developer and going to be competing with me for work!

It's grim out there isn't it?

Client would only agree to a 45% rate increase and refuses to extend my contract beyond 2011. Damn those sub-prime borrowers in the US of A!

No just refreshing, was on a 9 month WinForms contract so need to remind myself of the new stuff in ASP.NET 2. Also it's a cert book so I might site the exam after I finish reading it! Unless I first.

.Net is saturated. I'd probably have more luck finding work with my ancient COBOL skills.
