If you knew anything about Freemasonry within the UK you'd know that there is a big push to boost the profile of Freemasonry underway.
Sorry but running around shouting "HI I'M A MASON" to anyone listening isn't credible, there are more discrete ways of doing it than on a public forum.

Sorry sunshine, you asked me if I were a Freemason, I repled in the affirmative.

      It's no secret.

Why do Masons have to be discrete?

My old man was one and I have a lot of his stuff at home in a box.

I remember getting invited to some very good events held, and the year he was grand master was a good one. Loads of functions and parties and some good chaps also.

There is no rule governing a declaration of affiliation, only in bringing disrepute to the Lodge etc, through using ones membership as a form of defence or as leverage to gain an advantage over another.

and of course the disclosure of what is considered sacrosanct, personal or private information concerning other members.
Confusion is a natural state of being

                  They don't anymore.

In 1934 shortly after Hitler's rise to power Freemasons in Germany were persecuted by the Nazi's with many members being imprisoned and/or exterminated in concentration camps. A similar situation was instigated by Franco and Mussolini.

It became obvious at the time of the second world war that if Britain fell to Germany that a similar fate awaited British Freemasons - this helped to instill a sense of secrecy within Freemasons in the UK.

If you ever see a man wearing a little blue "forget Me Not" on his lapel, ask him why.

Disclosing your lodge names too for that matter, nice one. Why not just get a t-shirt with it all printed on so you can walk round and people won't even need to ask?

Which 'square' are you talking about?

It all sounds terribly exciting, this freemasonry. Wasn't Fred Flintstone one?
